Hi Reddit!

I’m solar astronomer Dr. Sarah Jaeggli. I work at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. I study the sun’s magnetic field, and I’m an expert on solar telescopes and instruments. I’ve conducted observations of the sun’s atmosphere, the corona, in visible and near infrared wavelengths during two total solar eclipses using a broadband spectrometer and a simple telescope.

A team of my colleagues is in Indonesia right now preparing for their experiment during the total solar eclipse later tonight (tomorrow local time)! More about that here.

You can follow along with NASA solar science and the eclipse on Twitter @NASASunEarth

I'll be online at 1 pm ET (10 am PT, 6 pm UT) to answer your questions. Ask me anything about total solar eclipses and eclipse science!
